Flyboy

Yesterday was my sister, Sandee's, 41st birthday. I was going to blog about it. I was going to call her and wish her a happy birthday. I was. Really, I was. But this is what happened instead. Flyboy wasn't feeling very well. He was having some pretty bad stomach pain. He thought it was the worst gas he's ever had. He has an extremely high tolerance for pain so for him to be complaining was unusual. He took some Pepto and then some Gas X thinking that they would help. I went to bed around 7pm (I have been working 3am to 1130am plus lots of OT) and after about an hour, Flyboy came and asked me to take him to the hospital. It was that bad. Seriously. He hates hospitals and doctors. So we went to the nearest hospital (the worst one in our area and NO we will never go back) and spent the next 2 hours in the waiting room. He was in so much pain that he was like a fart in a skillet. He couldn't keep still. He was writhing in agony and pacing the entire waiting room, vomiting, crawling on the floor, and still......he had to wait his turn. FRUSTRATING!! Finally, they took him back and got him on some morphine which kicked in pretty quick and helped him to relax a bit. The doc said his symptoms showed that he had a kidney stone and they did a CAT scan to find out. But instead of a kidney stone, he has Appendicitis. So at 7am this morning, they wheeled him into surgery to remove his inflamed appendix. Some gas that was.

BTW, happy belated birthday Sandee!!

Bittersweet

Well, we tried, unsuccessfully to keep the dogs apart when Tabyana went into heat. We did not want another batch of puppies so soon. We just got rid of the last twerps 6 months ago. They were cute and they were fun, but 8 of them was a bit much after they started running all over hell and back. Plus, this was only Tabyana's third heat so we wanted to wait at least until her next one. Poor girl. But, she is an escape artist and apparantly a hussy because she did this to herself. You see, she can unlock and open the sliding glass door. She just comes and goes as she pleases. We did not teach her to do this. She took on this talent all on her own. Anyhoo, when she went into heat, we would keep one dog in the back yard and the other in the house. We would trade them now and again for potty breaks and fresh air. Well, Don had Tabyana in the house and had put a board in the slider so the door wouldn't open. He turned his back for 5 minutes and Tabyana took full advantage of her escape abilities. Don came back downstairs to find that she had pulled the board out of the door and had gone outside. Needless to say, nature took it's course and Bandit and Tabyana were "stuck" together. And wala.......puppies are brewing as we speak.

She sure is getting fat. I wonder how many she will have this time. Damn hussie!

Why is this bittersweet? This will be our last batch of the little twerps. Not because we don't want anymore. Not because we are going to get her fixed. Not because we are going to get Bandit fixed. Nope, none of those reasons.

This is bittersweet because Bandit has Cancer. Lymphoma to be exact. His lymph nodes in his neck and groin are all swollen. Which means that it is throughout his body. He is probably in the advanced stages. The vet said that we could do radiation, but that would just prolong the inevitable and cost thousands. We can put him on steroids to ease some of his pain and help him eat better. He has dropped down to 79 pounds. He was up around 100 pounds. He limps around and doesn't have the energy that he used to. And his hair is starting to fall out. The girls are heartsick. We are heartsick. Flyboy thinks he only has a couple months left in him. If that. He is only 7 years old. Sugar Booger and Punky Poo don't remember life without him. Neither does Tabyana. It's very hard watching him go downhill.

Actual Conversation

The following conversation took place between me and teenage drama queen. We rented the movie Dan In Real Life and watched it today. TDQ had already watched it at her friend, Fledge's. They are both 13. I am not prepared to deal with them being 13 and being as "knowledgeable" as they seem to have become. Anyhoo, the movie is about a man who has been a widow for 4 years. His family meets up for a family reunion and he gets set up on a date. One of his brothers asks him if he "uncorked".

Me: TDQ, what did he just say?
TDQ: He asked him if he uncorked.
Me: Do you even know what that means?
TDQ: Yes
Me: How do you know what that means?
TDQ: Fledge explained it to me.
Me: How does she know what it means?
TDQ: I don't know.
Me: So, what does it mean?
TDQ: It means he hasn't been with his wife for a while.
Me: heart palpitations
Me: OMG! I am not old enough, I mean not ready for you to know what that means.
HOLY CRAP!

Share Time

Don't even ask how I came across this. But it totally cracked me up so I had to share.

There's a storm rolling in

Photobucket

I love thunder storms. I love the way the clouds roll in and get all dark and gloomy. I love nature. It's so unpredictable. When Flyboy and I lived on the mountain, we would sit outside and watch the storms roll in. Even through all the lightening and thunder boomers. My dad taught us kids a song about thunder and lightening when we were little. Maybe that contributed to my love of storms.

Photobucket

Lightening, she's an alleycat
Who lives up in the clouds
Thunder, he's a black boy
And he can holler loud
When he kisses lightening
He stoops and then he blunders
He trips and tears his trousers
And that's what makes it thunder
