Playing in the river

We went and played in the Boise River the other day. It was beautiful out. Years ago, when Flyboy and I started dating, he brought me to this same spot and we went crawfishing. We caught a bunch of crawdads and took them home and cooked and ate them. It was a lot of fun. We haven't been here in years. And it's not far from where we live. We need to come here more often. It's the perfect spot. It's not too deep and the girls had a ton of fun.

This is where we first got in the river.

Walking under Linder bridge. You can see how shallow it is right here. It does get a bit deeper as you'll see in the next pictures.

Don and the girls are starting to search for crawdads. They're sort of hard to spot, but once you see one, it seems like you suddenly see them everywhere.

J is my little fish. She has always loved the water.

Isn't it beautiful here?

And What do we have here???

A crawdad!!! The first catch of the day.

Can you see it's claw? It was trying to get me!

Here's another one.

We threw several back before we decided to keep some to bring home. We only kept about 12 or so.

The puppies wanted to eat them. Silver boy got pinched and had enough.

Crawdads cooking. Notice how they turned red?

This is the mack daddy of them all. I found this one. I made Flyboy catch it though.

Preparing to eat them with some melted butter

Each of us got a little taste. They are really pretty good. Just think of a baby lobster.
All in all it was a pretty fun day. The girls love to get outside and do some exploring. We need to do it more often.
